About Lyndhurst

Lyndhurst being the “capital of the New Forest “ and at the logistical heart of Britain’s newest national park,  winner of a worldwide “green” tourism award in November 2007 is an ideal base from which to explore and enjoy this stunning natural resource. With over 50 attractions and places of interest within one hundred thousand acres of forest and heathland, from Beaulieu (home of Lord Montague and the national motor museum) to wonderful walks in forest enclosures, where deer, ponies, donkeys and pigs (at certain times of the year) wander freely and have full “right of way” over today’s vehicles, you can find unique pubs hidden away at the end of quiet lanes.
Visit the final resting place of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle in Minstead and Alice Hargreave’s grave, the inspiration for Alice in Wonderland at St Michael and all Angels church in Lyndhurst.
Cycle hire is available locally, as is horse riding, or should you wish to watch the world go by, then an open topped bus tours the forest from May to September.

At the end of an enjoyable day you will find that Lyndhurst boasts a super selection of eating establishments, all within an easy walk of our front gate, ranging from traditional public houses, impressive Indian, three excellent Italian, wonderful Chinese, to a traditional village hotel, where all meals and even pastry desserts are made on the premises, we will gladly pre book any of these for you.
